OUTREACH, An association of volunteers for rural development, was established in the year 1992 and registered under the Karnataka State Societies Registration Act 1960, in May 1993. Its registered office is in HBR layout, Bangalore. and currently operates in 5 states i.e.Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu and Chhattisgarh.
Outreach is a leading resource and training organization in participatory approaches and established training/project centres in Bidar, Bagalkot, Ballari and Gauribidanur in Karnataka, Madanapalli, Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, Bhadrachalam in Telanagana, Sukma in Chattisgargh and Hosur inTamilNadu.
OUTREACH is managed by its Executive Committee.

During its 24 years of existence , OUTREACH has covered approximately 900 villages along with 36 grass root NGO partners to whom technical and managerial support services are provided. The main thrust of OUTREACH is community based poverty alleviation and restoration of degraded primary environments in drought prone areas in South India.

OUTREACH is also a leading resource and training organization in participatory approaches. It has pioneered and developed the use and application of Participatory Rural Appraisal [PRA] techniques in a wide range of development situations, nationally and internationally.

OUTREACH has been conducting developmental work through community based organizations and user groups. This approach aims at sustainability of the programmes, managed by client community. Communities organized by OUTREACH are Self Help Groups [SHGs], Village Forest Committees [VFCs] , Watershed Development Committees [WDCs], and Tank User Groups [TUGs] etc for better facilitation of the interventions. SHGs are able to avail small and short term loans through formal financial institutions and banks for income generating activities.

OUTREACH is undertaking programmes from several organizations like NABARD, Watershed Development Department, Karnataka State Department of Forest, Karnataka Evaluation Authority, Indian Council of Agriculture Research , ARGHYAM, and ITC Ltd. Major trust has been in Natural Resources Management and Watershed Development.

We have immense pleasure in informing that in the recent past we have received 3 prestigious state and national level awards on the following:

  • State level Award for the cause of conservation and protection of Environment. This award was given by Government of Karnataka in June 2010 with a cash Prize of Rs.1,00,000/-
  • In March 2011, OUTREACH received National Water Award for promoting Bhumijal Samvardhan by adopting innovative practices of ground water augmentation through rain water harvesting and artificial recharge. This award was conferred by Ministry of Ground water Resources, Government of India with a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/-
  • The Department of Rural Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh has given an “Award of Excellence’ for implementing Integrated Watershed Management Programme ( IWMP) in Chowdepalli of Chittoor District from March 2009 to 2014 on 19th April 2014 ,Hyderabad
