To facilitate the emergence and development of individuals and organizations with the commitment and capabilities to improve the quality of life of vulnerable rural communities living in degraded and drought prone regions by:

Organizing them into a variety of community based self-help organizations which ultimately evolve into developmental institutions capable of addressing local developmental needs, and also capable of placing legitimate demands on the system.

Social, economic and institutional mainstreaming of target communities, especially women,

Enhancing their food and livelihood security by improving their skills, primary resource base, and environment,

Developing and promoting appropriate micro-enterprises through value addition of primary produce, non-land based activities, micro-credit, and marketing,

Developing and promoting appropriate participatory approaches and methodologies,

Building capacities and promoting network of government, non-government, community based organizations, financial and other institutions, Influencing, in their favor, policies of government, donors, NGOs, and institutions involved in financing, research and training.
