 Training Resource Organisation

 

OUTREACH, has developed the use and application of Participatory Methodologies in a range of subjects such as Natural Resources Management (Rainfed Farming, Watershed Management, Forestry & Agro Forestry, Livestock,) Health, Water and Sanitation, Fisheries, Sericulture, Credit, Rehabilitation and Urban Slums. The use and applications of participatory methodologies during different stages of the project life cycle from planning to implementation, monitoring and evaluating are also being developed and used widely. This specialisation has been a key factor in the establishment of OUTREACH as a leading Training Organisation in India. 

In the field of training, apart from addressing the capacity building needs of grass roots community based organisations, OUTREACH also trains staff from Government, Non-Government Organisation and Banks, Research organisations, Universities and other mainstream organisations. Example, training programs have been conducted for the IAS probationers from the Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy at Dehra Dhun , National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) National Council for Applied Research , Institute of Public administration , FAO-ODA-Bay of Bengal program, Central Silk Board and Central Sericulture Research and training Institutes and many other organisations in India. The content of the training is based on the themes addressed in its field projects and covers conceptual, technical, managerial and financial aspects. Emphasis is also given to attitudinal and behavioral training.

OUTREACH has also worked with several organisations abroad mainly promoting the use of participatory methodology in Rural and Urban Development activities. 

Members of OUTREACH staff undertake short training assignments overseas (mainly in countries in the Southern African region and also in the Far East. OUTREACH also hosts an annual program known as the South-South exchange program, which was developed in order to give exposure to persons engaged in rural development, from Southern developing countries. Participants are given an exposure to various Government organisations, NGOs, rural communities and rural development projects and institutions.
