OUTREACH projects are located in the degraded, drought prone areas of Chittoor and Kammam district of A.P, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Koppal, Bidar, Bellary and Kolar in Karnataka and Dharmapuri Dist in Tamil Nadu, all these are poverty stricken, situated in remote & far flung areas away from the State capitals.
OUTREACH emphasises the community based integrated development approach. The focus of eight of the nine project is on NRM and capacity building of SHGs/CLAs, primarily of women, enabling them to restore and manage the natural resources in their habitats and stabilize their livelihood systems. The SHGs save and manage credit activities & establish non-land based economic activities affiliated to the land based ones that helps to reduce pressure on the natural resources of the habitat. OUTREACH helps the SHGs/CLAs/CBDOs to establish effective linkages with various sources, i.e. government and non-government.
OUTREACH organises capacity building programs in community based participatory project planning, implementation & management of programs in areas such of NRM, Micro Finance and Micro Enterprise. During this process the awareness of the community members awareness is raised to manage and use their resources more efficiently. Also in the process the community’s social interaction skills are also developed to relate with Government, Banks, and other Finance Institutions. PRA & Participatory techniques are commonly used in OUTREACH capacity building programs. OUTREACH has fully equipped training centre in Madanapalli & Bhadrachalam in Andhra Pradesh and at Gauribidanur in Karnataka State.
Unlike the other NRM based projects, the urban project in Bangalore is for children of migrant construction workers and is known as OUTREACH-ONSITE project. The objectives of the program is mainstreaming the children & youth belonging to these communities. The program address child labour issues & provide day care facilities and vocational trainings for over 1000 children from this vulnerable community.

In addition, OUTREACH is vigilant to the needs of the poor rural communities during calamities such as floods, droughts and other natural disasters.
OUTREACH also rehabilitates the disused/unused tanks, as part of the measures for providing relief to drought affected people. |
